As you may have heard the news about the king of Thailand, here are few things you need to know if you are visiting Thailand, especially Bangkok, during October – November 2016.

Currently, Thai government announces a 30-day period of mourning for King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death starting from October 14, 2016.  People all over the country are wearing black and crying on the streets. Travelers should exercise special sensitivity during this period.

While shopping malls, restaurants and public transportation are operating as usual, some main attractions including Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) and the Grand Palace do not open for public entry.

However, you could enjoy other places as usual. Now the weather in Thailand is hot and humid (33 degree Celsius) and there is light rain in some areas. Moreover, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has issued a list of recommendations for visitors who planning to visit Thailand during the mourning period.
